- Eighteen years in the IT industry including senior roles as Network Manager, IT Manager, Project Manager and SME business manager.
- Many special projects either managed, tendered out or developed.
- Experienced in translating a loose set of requirements into a clear specification ready for coding.
- Able to offer suggestions and build a strategy based on practical experience.
- Qualified Google Associated Professional for search engine management
I have held IT management and consulting positions, in both public and private sectors, in the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
In the UK I worked as the IT Manager for a large marketing company, CMT Ltd, and put all aspects of IT supply, support and special projects out to tender, becoming thoroughly experienced in the tender process.
Becoming an independant contractor, I was then involved in major projects for many companies, including a year with the UK’s national Environment Agency.
I sailed to New Zealand from the UK with my young family and remain a keen yachtsman. On arrival in NZ I worked as Network Manager for Panasonic for a year, before starting an internet development company in 1999.
As the senior manager I developed many hundreds of websites of all sizes for New Zealand and Australian businesses. Working initially from an office in Auckland’s CBD, then since 2004 from a home office on Waiheke with a team of independants on a per-project basis. This has proved a good formula, allowing savings from reduced overheads to be passed on to clients.
For the last year I have been working as a freelance consultant rather than a developer, lending my experience to clients and project managing on their behalf rather then directly developing myself. I have a good working knowledge of the NZ internet world and can call on talanted people where required.
